I Walk My Own Path

In all my years of schooling, several of it involving online classes, there has always been one thing I disliked. Introduction posts. I hate them. I never liked trying to figure out what to say. I always felt like more was said than one would ever learn in a semesters worth of conversation with a classmate. Yet, here I am attempting to give you an introduction to me. Which will probably contain more information than you'd ever get in a conversation.
I don't know you. There's a good chance I never will. But, really, that doesn't matter. You're not here for me to get to know you, but for you to get to know me.
My name is Rikki. To be clear, I am a female. Random, extra fact: I am named for, or because of, a Steely Dan song titled: Rikki Don't Lose That Number. My father heard it and decided his first daughter would be named Rikki. I won the lottery on that one. Pet peeve: Having my name misspelled.
So what information can I give you to help you know me a bit as you read my blog. Well, I'm married. Won the jackpot on that. My husband is an amazing man, who is very supportive and seems to really want me to do a blog. We enjoy hunting for historical landmarks together. Keep thinking I should do a blog about those journeys. I wanted a cat, he didn't. We talked and came to a compromise: we adopted two cats. Man loves me.
I dislike the heat. Which is funny since I live in a hot state. You hear of seasonal depression, but typically it's because summer has faded to fall and winter. I go the other way. I'm my happiest when it's cold, wet, rainy, or snowy. I will walk around in rain wearing short sleeves, no coat or umbrella, happy as a clam.
Learning has become a hobby of mine. I get bored and go back to school. I also enjoy crafting and run an Etsy store with my mother.
My first job was technically a paper route, before I worked as seasonal help at Sanrio Surprises. Then I got into law and one of my degrees is actually as a paralegal. While attending college to get that paralegal degree I started working in the food industry and have stayed. Food manufacturing is far more interesting than I anticipated, even if it wasn't something I would have set out to do. I've ended up blending my enjoyment of law with my current position and it all works out. And, my legal training does come in handy in navigating the rules and regulations of the food industry.
Welcome. Enjoy.
